South Africa’s Eastern Cape province has been identified as a pilot site for Implementation of the National Sanitary Dignity Framework during 2018-2019. A provincial consultation was held in East London on 3 May, co-facilitated by the Office of the Premier and Department of Women.

The consultation was scheduled for a broader audience and stakeholders who have an interest in or role to play in implementation of the Framework. In attendance were delegates from Government departments, district municipalities, civil society and private-public partners.

The consultation aims to present the National Sanitary Dignity Framework to stakeholders in preparation for the election of a Provincial Task Team that is to be established to spearhead implementation in the Eastern Cape.
